Applied Physical Sciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of the General Dynamics Corporation, is looking for a highly motivated electromagnetics engineer to join our Concord, MA team. Successful candidates will have a MSEE (preferred) or B.S. degree with 10+ years’ experience in electrical engineering or physics with a focus on electromagnetic field theory, or acoustics and finite element analysis. Professional experience of 10+ years is desired. Successful applicants will support the design, development, and analysis of acoustic transducers, novel permanent magnet motors and other low frequency magnetic field phenomena. Candidates should have a solid understanding of commercial finite element analysis programs such as COMSOL, ABAQUS, FLUX, and/or OPERA.
Job Requirements
• BS, MS preferred in Acoustics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Physics.
• Experience with commercial finite element analysis codes such as COMSOL, FLUX, OPERA.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
• Understanding of structures and mechanics is desired but not required.
• Experience with design and analysis of transducers.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Python for data analysis and analytic tool development.
• Strong problem-solving skills to make inform critical design decisions.
• Outstanding verbal, written and visual communication skills.
Work Environment
Our Boston area office is located in Concord, MA. This historic New England town offers a convenient reverse commute to/from Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge. APS moved into this freshly renovated space in August 2018. You will work in a professional, but casual office environment. Experience levels in the office range from 30+ year subject matter experts, to recent college graduates, to interns providing peer and mentor level support networks.
