Overview: APS is seeking an experienced Mechanical, Electromechanical, Ocean, or Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to support the development of subsea R&D systems for DARPA, ONR, and the broader U.S. Navy. The position entails design of mechanical systems, components, and structures from blank slate through fabrication, with consideration for an array of multi-disciplinary system constraints, functionality and performance, manufacturability, and lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to shape next-generation unmanned undersea propulsion, fabrication, and payload integration approaches.

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to create, mature, and fabricate complex maritime defense systems working with engineers and mathematicians across a variety of fields. We are looking for someone that can bring efficient systems engineering rigor while thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced environment that emphasizes innovation and creative problem solving. The ability to operate with autonomy and to critically evaluate system needs across multiple disciplines to find the ideal balance for overall system architecture is critical. Experience with advanced manufacturing methods such as laser welding, metal additive manufacturing, and the use of highly alloyed stainless steels, copper nickel alloys, and titanium is likely to be relevant.

At APS you will work in a small company environment where technical and administrative excellence are rewarded, and an entrepreneurial spirit is encouraged. This position will allow applicants to make meaningful contributions to the APS mission.
