Tristan Lawry, President of APS, received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2011 and 2009, respectively, and he received dual B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2007.

Dr. Lawry began his professional career with APS in 2011 and made key technical contributions in a wide range of disciplines including underwater acoustics, transducer and array design and modeling, signal processing, ultrasonics, digital communications, large scale data acquisition, wireless power transfer, analog, digital, mixed-signal and power electronics design and testing, optimal control, deep-ocean system engineering, and autonomous undersea systems.

His technical efforts at APS focused primarily on research and development with a strong emphasis on proving unique concepts and capabilities through rapid design, fabrication, and testing of complex hardware in challenging real-world environments.

Prior to becoming the president of APS, Dr. Lawry served in several roles within the company, including APS’s Chief Engineer, the System Design & Innovation Group Leader, and Deputy CTO.
